In a dramatic twist, the trial against Young Thug saw a bombshell revelation from the state’s key witness, Kenneth Copeland, also known as Lil Woody.

On Monday, August 12, Lil Woody stunned the courtroom when he admitted to lying in his past statements. “Like I told you before y’all called me to trial, I have lied,” he confessed. “I made things up. I told you this before y’all brought me in this courtroom, and I’m telling you now. You asked me about 2015. I had got my life together. Y’all are trying to put this on my conscience, y’all are trying to put people’s lives in my hands.”

Copeland didn’t hold back, expressing his frustration with the prosecutors. He accused them of pressuring him and criticized their actions, saying, “I don’t wanna be here. Y’all have pressured me, I’m tired of y’all, cause y’all know y’all wrong, and y’all Black people doing this to us.”

Interestingly, Copeland denied having any intention of helping Young Thug, stating he doesn’t “care nothing about him,” as reported by FOX. His unexpected admission has certainly complicated the trial.

Meanwhile, the ongoing YSL RICO trial, the longest in Georgia’s history, has taken its toll on Young Thug. In a viral moment from the proceedings on August 7, Thugger appeared to be dozing off as his lawyer addressed the judge.

The trial has faced multiple setbacks. On July 30, it resumed after a new judge, Paige Reese Whitaker, was appointed following several delays. The previous judge, Ural Glanville, was removed on July 15 after meeting with prosecutors and Copeland without the knowledge of Young Thug’s legal team.

Judge Shakura Ingram briefly took over but recused herself on July 17 due to a romantic relationship her former courthouse deputy had with a co-defendant in the case. Finally, Whitaker was named as the new judge on the same day.

With the trial’s many twists and turns, it remains to be seen how this latest revelation will impact the outcome for Young Thug.
