The District Attorney, Fani Willis, penned a letter in July advocating for Lucci’s freedom. ‘Pursuant to the parties’ negotiated agreement, the State does not object to Defendant, Rayshawn Bennett[‘s release from prison] from Department of Corrections the first time he becomes eligible for parole or after serving one-third of his prison sentence, whichever comes first,’ Willis wrote. She emphasized this recommendation relies on Lucci’s good behavior within the Department of Corrections.
Lucci’s journey has been tumultuous. In 2021, he was arrested due to a RICO indictment, pleading guilty in January 2024 to violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.
