Wiz Khalifa’s performance at Romania’s Beach Please! Festival took an unexpected turn when he was escorted off stage in handcuffs for lighting up mid-show.
Fans captured the moment as the rapper, known for his laid-back style, was escorted from the Costinesti resort. The legal trouble followed his set, leading to a charge of illegal drug possession, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Romania’s anti-organized crime prosecutors, DIICOT, confirmed that Khalifa was caught with 18 grams of cannabis, classified as a ‘risk drug’ in the country. Despite the incident, the rapper was released from custody shortly after.
Addressing the situation on social media, Khalifa acknowledged the misunderstanding. ‘Last night’s show was amazing,’ he shared on X. ‘I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.’
This isn’t the first time Khalifa has made headlines with his on-stage antics. Earlier this year, during a poignant performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas, he paid tribute to several late rappers, including DMX, TakeOff, and Nipsey Hussle. These moments, filled with emotion and respect, showcased another side of the ‘Black & Yellow’ artist.
Despite this hiccup, Khalifa still has reasons to celebrate. Last month, he joyfully announced that he and his girlfriend, Aimee Aguilar, are expecting their first child together. The couple even shared the baby’s gender in a sweet social media post. Khalifa wrote, ‘Baby Girl On The Way,’ alongside a photo of Aguilar’s baby bump.
It’s clear that while the Romanian festival incident sparked controversy, it hasn’t overshadowed the positive highlights in Wiz Khalifa’s life. From personal milestones to touching performances, the rapper continues to connect with fans both on and off the stage.
The recent arrest at the Romanian festival may have caused a stir, but Wiz Khalifa remains unfazed as he navigates the ups and downs of his career and personal life.
