Wale has sparked a heated discussion by declaring that Future is one of the top ten rappers of all time. This bold statement came after Wale praised Future’s latest mixtape, Pluto, on social media.

“Future means so much to Hip Hop. A top ten. I’m not debating that one,” Wale wrote on X (formerly Twitter). The D.C. rapper doubled down when fans disagreed, emphasizing that art is subjective and his tastes are diverse. He noted, “I got some folks fired up today … art is subjective … Y’all like what y’all liked … see y’all on the road 💙🌙.”

Charlamagne Tha God echoed Wale’s sentiment earlier this year when he called Future the most influential rapper of the last decade. Speaking on the Brilliant Idiots podcast, he said, “They talk about a Big Three, but really there’s a Fantastic Four. If you wanna get a little spicy, Future could be in the Big Three.”

Charlamagne pointed out Future’s massive influence, stating, “For better or worse, I can find a million Future clones all around the world. I don’t think there’s any rapper that’s influenced culture and music more than Future over the last decade. People wanna be Future, people wanna sound like Future.” He also highlighted some of Future’s recent achievements, such as topping the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously with his album “We Don’t Trust You” and the hit single “Like That.”

Charlamagne went further, putting Future ahead of J. Cole in terms of commercial success. “I would have Drake, Future, Kendrick, personally,” he said. “Statistically, if you’re talking about numbers, Future’s over Cole.” However, he did admit that J. Cole is a stronger lyricist than Future.

Future himself has never been shy about his place in the rap world. Back in 2018, he boldly declared, “Top 5 dead or alive and I’m #1,” sharing a picture of himself in a fur coat.

Whether you agree with Wale and Charlamagne or not, there’s no denying Future’s significant impact on Hip Hop. His influence and success continue to spark debates and shape the genre.
