Tyrese recently stirred the pot by claiming that Snoop Dogg is more famous than JAY-Z. During a chat on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay, the singer and actor questioned who really has the global edge in fame.

Tyrese didn’t hold back, asking, “Who’s a bigger rapper globally? Most famous of the two. JAY-Z or Snoop Dogg?” According to him, it’s Snoop Dogg. He even posed a scenario: “If JAY-Z and Snoop Dogg were in a mall in Moscow, who would shut the mall down?” For Tyrese, it’s Snoop, without a doubt. “Biggest fucking superstar in the world. That’s my big homie. Long Beach, West Coast, I wish a motherfucker would,” he added.

While the debate continues, Snoop Dogg is riding a wave of his own. He recently shared an eye-opening story about an encounter with none other than Paul McCartney. “I was doing a little concert for somebody in Hollywood. Paul McCartney was there,” Snoop recalled. “I’d never met him before but I’m a fucking fan of the Beatles. I know Jimmy [Iovine] knows him, Dre knows him. I’m in the back smoking and they like, ‘Sir Paul would like to meet you.’ I’m like, ‘For real? Hold on.’

Snoop couldn’t believe it when he met McCartney. “I put the blunt out. Cuz walked in the room like, ‘Don’t put that down.’ He gives me a hug and he meets me and it’s like, Paul McCartney knows who the fuck Snoop Dogg is,” he said. “Fuck who Snoop Dogg is; this is Paul McCartney! He knows who I am! That’s the experience I love is when people you respect, respect you.” When asked if he would collaborate with McCartney, Snoop replied with enthusiasm, “Fuck yes. In a heartbeat. ‘Ebony and Ivory,’ ‘The Girl is Mine’ — what you wanna do?”

Snoop is also gearing up to release his new album Missionary, his first full-length collaboration with Dr. Dre since his 1993 debut Doggystyle. Dr. Dre mentioned in an interview that working on Missionary shows a new level of maturity in their music. “This one’s gonna show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music. I feel like this is some of the best music I’ve done in my career,” he shared.

Therefore, while the debate on whether Snoop Dogg is more famous than JAY-Z rages on, one thing is clear: Snoop’s influence is undeniable. From surprising encounters with music legends to dropping new albums, he remains a colossal figure in the entertainment world.

Whether you agree with Tyrese or not, the impact and popularity of Snoop Dogg cannot be denied. His stories and upcoming projects only add to his legendary status.
