Tyrese is celebrating a new milestone—earning an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Humanitarianism from Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University. He joins celebrities like Raheem DeVaughn and Bobby Brown in receiving this honor.
Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University, an online institution, doesn’t offer this degree to regular students but provides a similar one in Christian Counseling. Tyrese’s award highlights his contributions to humanitarian efforts.
In a light-hearted moment during the ceremony, Tyrese joked, “My office hours are now from 9 to 3,” then proudly referred to himself as “Dr. Gibson.” The crowd loved it.
Just a few days before this big event, Tyrese was on The Breakfast Club, where he had a heartfelt interview. He opened up about his grief over losing his mother, two sisters, film director John Singleton, and his Fast & Furious co-star, Paul Walker.
Tyrese broke down in tears, saying, “I’m doing the best I can with every 24 hours I get.” He added, “There is no square footage I could ever live in, there is no rims, no jewelry and no car, there is no net worth, there is no press release, there is no co-star, there is no collaboration in the world that could ever replace my momma.”
Tyrese, who has been married twice, discussed how painful it is when a marriage ends. “That could ever fill the void of what it’s like to wake up and get married and want to be in something for the rest of your life, and it goes away,” he said.
He also talked about the struggles men face during tough times like divorces, miscarriages, and career slumps. He emphasized, “When divorces happen, women aren’t the only ones that are devastated. When a miscarriage happens, women are not the only ones that you should be checking on… stop skipping over the man and just checking on the woman.”
Tyrese’s latest accolade and heartfelt openness provide a powerful reminder of the importance of humanitarian efforts and emotional well-being.
