Travis Scott’s re-released 2014 mixtape, ‘Days Before Rodeo,’ is on track to outsell most other rap albums in 2024. It was released commercially for the first time last week to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
According to HITS Daily Double, the mixtape is estimated to sell 217,000 equivalent units in its first week. It’s competing for the number one spot on the Billboard 200, though Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Short N’ Sweet’ currently leads with over 300,000 sales.
Despite this, Travis Scott is known for his robust physical and digital sales, leaving room for a potential upset. As a preview from chart data shows, he holds the second spot with 217,000 units, trailing behind Sabrina but still ahead of Post Malone, Chappell Roan and Taylor Swift.
Interestingly, a deluxe edition featuring five bonus tracks is available exclusively on Travis’s website, alongside vinyl copies. If these sales estimates hold, ‘Days Before Rodeo’ will have the third-largest first-week sales of any rap album in 2024, behind only Eminem’s and Future and Metro Boomin’s releases.
The mixtape also stands to outperform major releases from artists like Kanye West, J. Cole, and 21 Savage. Travis Scott has even teased a potential tour to celebrate the success of ‘Days Before Rodeo.’
Just last week, Travis performed the entire mixtape for a select crowd in Atlanta, hinting at future plans. ‘I might have to do a whole tour of this right here, man!’ he told fans, fueling excitement.
‘Days Before Rodeo,’ Travis Scott’s second mixtape, originally dropped as a precursor to his debut album, ‘Rodeo.’ The mixtape features collaborations with big names like Young Thug, Big Sean, and Metro Boomin and includes fan-favorite tracks like ‘Drugs You Should Try It,’ ‘Skyfall,’ and ‘Mamacita.’ Kanye West recently dubbed ‘Mamacita’ a ‘classic.’
Travis Scott’s ‘Days Before Rodeo’ is proving to be a game-changer, poised for massive sales and potential tour celebrations.
