Travis Scott just added another impressive accolade to his career this week. ‘Goosebumps,’ his 2016 hit featuring Kendrick Lamar, has officially gone Diamond, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
On Wednesday, ‘Goosebumps’ jumped from its previous certification of 8 million in 2021 to a whopping 13 million, surpassing the Diamond mark. This makes it Scott’s second Diamond single; his first being ‘Sicko Mode,’ which not only hit the 10 million milestone in 2020 but has now climbed to 14 times Platinum.
The good news doesn’t stop there for Scott. His 2014 mixtape ‘Days Before Rodeo,’ re-released to commemorate its 10th anniversary, is doing exceptionally well. Early figures suggest it could sell around 217,000 equivalent units in its first week. Although Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Short N’ Sweet’ is projected to sell over 300,000 units, Scott remains a fierce competitor, known for both high physical and digital sales.
If the projections hold true, ‘Days Before Rodeo’ will notch the third largest first-week sales for any rap album this year, trailing only Eminem’s ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ and Future and Metro Boomin’s ‘We Don’t Trust You.’ Remarkably, this decade-old mixtape is set to outperform recent releases by major artists like Kanye West, J. Cole, and 21 Savage.
Scott has also hinted at a tour to celebrate ‘Days Before Rodeo,’ which would no doubt excite his fanbase. He has a track record of putting on highly memorable live shows, so this would be an event to look forward to.
Travis Scott continues to prove why he’s a heavyweight in the hip-hop world. With another Diamond single under his belt and impressive sales for a decade-old mixtape, the rapper shows no signs of slowing down.
