Tory Lanez, who has now been in prison for nearly a year following his conviction for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, has been making productive use of his time. The rapper, currently serving a 10-year sentence, recently revealed during a phone interview with Adin Ross that he’s earned his high school diploma and is now enrolled in college.

Speaking with notable enthusiasm, Tory shared that he’s in high spirits despite his circumstances. He described his routine, which includes working out and focusing on self-improvement. He even played Ma$e’s ‘Welcome Back’ using an Amazon Alexa device, adding a touch of normalcy to his prison life.

‘No funny shit, man, I’m great,’ he told Ross. ‘I know that a lot of people sometimes, when they hear prison, they think that somebody is in the corner somewhere balling his eyes out. I’m really good. I’m in a great space mentally. I’m looking better than I’ve ever looked, I’m working out. I’m really just bettering myself in every single way.’

His educational achievements are a source of pride. Tory declared, ‘A n-gga just graduated high school, by the way, and enrolled in college, you feel me? I never thought I would do that! But I’m taking this moment and I’m taking advantage of everything that’s good.’ He emphasized how much this accomplishment means to him, considering his past as a high school dropout.

Tory remains optimistic about his future and believes he won’t serve his full sentence. ‘I know that my time is coming. I don’t feel like I’m gonna be in here for a long time. I’m very spiritual, very in tune with God. I feel like the conversations that me and God have been having, He’s been letting me know in so many different ways that I’m about to get out of here,’ he shared.

However, Tory’s legal battles are far from over. Recently, his attempts to have his felony assault convictions overturned hit a roadblock. Last week, the California Attorney General’s Office refuted his claim of having new evidence. An affidavit from his driver, Jauquan Smith, which suggested that Megan Thee Stallion’s friend Kelsey Harris was holding the gun, was dismissed as inadequate.

Deputy Attorney General Michael C. Keller argued that Smith’s statement doesn’t qualify as new evidence. Keller cited previously undisclosed statements from Tory’s former lawyer, who chose not to call Smith as a witness during the original trial. ‘Defense counsel acknowledged that he had spoken with Smith regarding his observations and determined that Smith would not be a helpful witness,’ Keller explained.

Additionally, Keller highlighted the substantial evidence supporting Tory’s guilt, including DNA results, Megan Thee Stallion’s testimony, and Tory’s own communications following the incident. While Tory’s educational pursuits are commendable, they don’t overshadow the legal challenges he faces.

Tory Lanez’s time in prison is marked by personal growth and educational achievements. However, his legal struggles continue to cast a shadow over his optimism for an early release. The rapper remains confident in his spiritual journey and future, even as he navigates these turbulent times.
