Snoop Dogg is back at it again, and fans are loving it! The legendary rapper has just introduced the newest artist to join the ranks of Death Row Records, and it’s none other than Pasadena’s Charlie Bereal.
In an Instagram post on July 24th, Snoop Dogg and Death Row Records made the big announcement, sharing a teaser for Bereal’s debut single, “Never Gonna Take Away My Love.” Inspired by 1970s soul, the slow jam highlights Bereal’s smooth singing voice and heartfelt songwriting.
Bereal croons, “You were there when no one cared to come around / You were the only one who can change my frown into a smile,” giving fans a taste of the emotional depth in his music.
The response was overwhelmingly positive. One fan commented, “This is great for the culture! Charlie Bereal and Snoop both have an appreciation for 70’s RnB music! The vibe is apparent!! [fire emojis].” Another excited fan wrote, “Ooooooooo Death Row got another one!” The love didn’t stop there, with former Death Row affiliate The D.O.C. calling it “Dope” and R&B star Mario Winans exclaiming, “YEAAAAAAAAAA BRO!!!!!!!”
Charlie Bereal, pronounced “Burrell,” isn’t alone in this revamped Death Row lineup. He joins D Smoke, Jane Handcock, and Snoop Dogg himself. Plus, other talents like October London, who recently appeared on Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge’s NxWorries album, are also part of the team.
Snoop’s efforts don’t end with fresh faces. In April, Danny Boy, known for his work with 2Pac on classics like “I Ain’t Mad at Cha,” re-signed with Death Row. The following month, Tha Dogg Pound dropped their new album, “W.A.W.G. (We All We Got),” featuring collaborations with Snoop, The Lady of Rage, DaBaby, and more.
It’s clear that Snoop Dogg’s vision for Death Row Records continues to evolve, blending the old-school vibes with new talent. With Charlie Bereal on board, fans can’t wait to see what’s next for the iconic label.
