Big Meech, the co-founder of the Black Mafia Family (BMF), is stepping into a new chapter of life after nearly two decades behind bars. His release was celebrated by Sexyy Red, a popular artist known for her hit “SkeeYee.”
In a touching gesture, Sexyy Red took to X to announce her excitement about Big Meech’s return, offering to perform for him without any charge. She tweeted, “Where da welcome home party @ I’m trona perform for da freeski.”
Meanwhile, Meech’s journey isn’t over yet. Transferred to a halfway house, he will serve the rest of his sentence there, set to be released in January 2026. His lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, expressed joy over his release, highlighting his personal growth while incarcerated.
Big Meech gained significant attention through the STARZ series BMF. With his story being portrayed by his son, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., the show harnessed his life story, bringing more fame to Meech even while he was imprisoned.
A significant reduction in his sentence occurred earlier this year, shortening it by 32 months. This was due to Amendment 821, which acknowledged his rehabilitation efforts, including earning a GED and staying out of trouble since 2021. His lawyer aptly argued for his release given his exemplary conduct.
In court proceedings, it was revealed that Meech’s attorney filed a motion demanding a retroactive application of sentencing guidelines. Given his model behavior, he earned credit under the U.S.S.G. Amendment 782, paving the way for his earlier release.
Big Meech’s homecoming is marked by growth, celebration, and a promising new path.
