In an unexpected turn of events, Sexyy Red has quietly canceled several West Coast dates for her highly anticipated ‘4 President Tour,’ leaving fans puzzled and disappointed.
The tour, originally slated to kick off in Seattle on August 22, will now commence in Atlanta on August 24. This decision affects planned stops in Seattle, Portland on August 23, and Oakland on August 26.
Interestingly, Sexyy Red made no formal announcements on social media about the cancellations. Instead, fans learned the news through Ticketmaster, which simply listed these events as canceled by the organizer.
Just last month, Sexyy Red fired back at rumors suggesting low ticket sales were to blame. She staunchly denied these reports, maintaining, “My fans are buying tickets, we’re doing just fine. We’re not canceling any tour, this canceling stuff is all cap.”
She argued that her choice to partner with an independent, Black-owned touring company might be the real issue. According to her, major concert promoters were unhappy about this decision and may have resorted to underhanded tactics to derail her tour. “This is how they try to do you when you go with an independent promoter, and the bigger companies try to sabotage you. We’re not canceling anything,” she insisted.
Amid the tour drama, Sexyy Red dropped some exciting news: Kodak Black will be one of her supporting acts, along with Hunxho, Loe Shimmy, and Blakeiana.
On a positive note, Sexyy Red recently celebrated her first gold and platinum records. Her track ‘Get It Sexyy’ was certified gold, while ‘Pound Town’ went platinum. Taking to Instagram, she shared the surprising backstory behind ‘Get It Sexyy,’ revealing that the song was born during a tough period in her life.
“The night ‘Get It Sexyy’ was made, I was going through a lot. I had just had my baby, felt depressed, and was dealing with postpartum. My team in Miami would leave me in the studio to write songs, and I would just be in there crying, thinking about life,” she wrote.
She eventually returned to St. Louis, seeking comfort among family and friends. In a joyful studio session filled with laughter, blunts, and bottles, she created ‘Get It Sexyy,’ which she described as a significant confidence booster. “We were so turnt; all my sadness was gone. I love my family, period,” she added.
Adding a humorous touch, she concluded, “I was moaning in the song because my h0 was behind me, humping me while I was recording.”
The abrupt cancellations may have left fans disheartened, but Sexyy Red’s transparent and candid revelations offer a deeper understanding of her journey and creative process. As the tour kicks off in Atlanta, fans will undoubtedly be eager to support her, momentarily putting the West Coast’s canceled dates behind them.
