Rick Ross and Trick Trick publicly squashed their decade-long beef during a concert in Michigan, thanks to Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris.
The tension between the two rappers dates back to 2014 when Rick Ross was allegedly stopped from performing at Detroit’s Summer Jamz concert. Any lingering animosity seemed to have faded when they appeared together at Harry O’s Our Community First Action concert in Pontiac on September 17.
Harris, pardoned in 2021 by former President Donald Trump after serving 33 years for attempted murder and drug trafficking, played a pivotal role in orchestrating this reconciliation. During Trick Trick’s set, he introduced both artists to the stage, marking what he called a “major” moment.
The crowd watched as Ross and Trick Trick shared a warm embrace before Ross performed his 2010 track “I’m Not a Star.” Later, Rick Ross took to Instagram to express his gratitude. He praised Harry O for his community efforts and acknowledged their past differences. “I’m sure everybody knows me and Trick Trick had our differences for over a decade. Here we are just moving forward, doing big things in the community. We got some more big things coming,” Ross shared.
The beef between Ross and Trick Trick had been the subject of much speculation over the years. It was rumored that Ross was “in fear of his life” after Trick Trick allegedly led a blockade of about 100 people to prevent him from performing in Detroit. This incident reportedly resulted in a “no-fly zone” for Ross in the city.
Trick Trick later addressed the 2014 incident in a lengthy video, emphasizing the focus should have been on the artists who performed that night rather than the negativity. He stated, “That man’s a musician. I’m a musician. We musicians. Our business don’t belong on the internet.” He criticized the public for delving into their private issues, adding, “What the [expletive] I look like telling a man he gotta pay me to come to my damn city?”
With this public reconciliation, it seems Rick Ross and Trick Trick are putting their past behind them and looking forward to positive community efforts.
