R. Kelly’s daughter Buku Abi is about to lay bare a secret that will rock everyone in a new documentary about her notorious father.

R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey, set to air on TVEI on October 11, features interviews with Buku Abi, her mother Drea, and her brother Robert Kelly Jr. In the trailer, Buku emotionally confesses, “For a long time, I didn’t even want to believe that it happened. I didn’t know that even if he was a bad person that he would do something to me. I really feel like that one millisecond completely just changed my whole life.”

She continues, “Nobody wants to be the child of the father that is out here hurting women and children.” Buku’s mother, Drea, adds, “What he did to me, he did to me, but you didn’t have to do it to my kids.” The documentary promises to unveil the dark reality of growing up under the shadow of one of music’s most infamous figures.

Meanwhile, R. Kelly himself is battling to overturn his sex crime convictions by appealing to the United States Supreme Court. His legal team argues that the PROTECT Act, which extended the statute of limitations for such crimes, shouldn’t apply to him because it became law after his alleged incidents occurred. Prosecutors, however, believe the Act’s indefinite statute of limitations are valid in his case.

Back in 2022, a grand jury found Kelly guilty on several charges, including making videos of himself assaulting underage girls. This has only added to the intense scrutiny surrounding his legal troubles and personal life.

The Supreme Court is expected to decide in the coming months whether to hear Kelly’s appeal. This high-profile battle adds another layer of drama to an already tumultuous story. Meanwhile, eyes are on Buku’s documentary, eagerly awaiting the bombshells it might reveal.

Buku Abi’s documentary promises to deliver a deeply personal account that could reshape public perception of her father. As legal battles continue to unfold, the world will be watching closely.
