Pharrell Williams has officially launched his first jewelry collection in collaboration with Tiffany & Co.
Released on June 3, the ‘Tiffany Titan’ collection includes necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings crafted with diamonds in 18-karat yellow gold or titanium. ‘I’m very inspired by the water, and the name of this collection ‘Titan’ draws inspiration from Poseidon, ruler of the sea, King of Atlantis — Atlantis, which is also the name of the community I grew up in Virginia Beach,’ Pharrell shared in a statement to Women’s Wear Daily. ‘The detail in all of the jewelry pieces is very intentional, the use of black titanium…it’s a physical manifestation of beauty in blackness.’
Pharrell, always a man of many talents, is simultaneously working on a musical film in connection with Universal Pictures. Set in Virginia Beach during the summer of 1977, this project draws from the neighborhood where he grew up, particularly the Atlantis Apartments. The film will feature notable actors such as Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Halle Bailey, Brian Tyree Henry, Janelle Monáe, and Hip Hop legend Missy Elliott. As of now, there is no confirmed release date for the film.
In April, Pharrell also quietly released a surprise album titled ‘Virginia: Black Yacht Rock Vol. 1 — City of Limitless Access,’ available exclusively on the website blackyachtrock.com. The 10-track project includes songs like ‘Richard Mille,’ ‘Just For Fun,’ ‘Caged Bird Free,’ and ‘Cheryl.’ Interestingly, Pharrell has not mentioned the album on social media, and there is no info on credits or features. This marks Pharrell’s first solo release in a decade since 2014’s ‘Girl.’
Pharrell continues to expand his creative horizons, now making waves in both the jewelry and film industries, while still keeping his musical roots alive.
