Speaking to ESPN, Raygun explained, “What I wanted to do was come out here and do something new and different and creative — that’s my strength, my creativity.” She knew she couldn’t compete with the power moves of other competitors, so she aimed to showcase her artistic flair instead.
However, her performance, which included a much-mocked bunny hop, received a barrage of criticism. Viral videos with commentary from shows like Family Guy and comparisons to the Grinch soon followed, adding fuel to the fire.
