Metro Boomin has been on fire lately, and now there’s a buzz that he might just be gearing up for another round with 21 Savage. On Thursday, June 6, Metro took to X (formerly Twitter) to tease a new beat from the studio, which immediately had fans speculating about a new project.
In his post, Metro simply responded to one fan’s excitement with eyeball emojis. While this doesn’t confirm anything outright, it certainly doesn’t deny the possibility of a new collaboration either. The anticipation is palpable among fans who have been hoping for a Savage Mode III ever since the release of Savage Mode II.
The first Savage Mode, released in 2016, set the tone with nine tracks featuring Metro’s production alongside contributions from Southside, Sonny Digital, Zaytoven, G Koop, and Cubeatz. It even had a guest appearance from Future. Four years later, Metro and 21 Savage came back with Savage Mode II, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This sequel featured guest appearances from Young Thug, Young Nudy, and Drake, although it’s unlikely Drake will be part of the potential third installment due to some ongoing tensions.
21 Savage has been caught in the middle of the drama between Metro and Drake. Recently, during an Instagram Live session, he addressed the issue head-on, telling followers, “Bruh, aye, don’t be coming on my muthafuckin’ Live talking about no muthafuckin’ beef. Metro my brother and Drake my brother. They gon’ figure that shit out eventually.”
Since March, Metro and Drake have been exchanging jabs, both in their music and across social media. It all started when Metro released ‘We Don’t Trust You’ with Future, which included several shots at Drake, notably from Kendrick Lamar on ‘Like That.’ Drake retaliated on tracks like ‘Push Ups’ and ‘Family Matters’ and even launched the ‘BBL Drizzy’ contest as part of his comeback strategy.
The feud hit a humorous note when Metro jokingly called 21 Savage “OVO Savage” in an Instagram Live comment, referring to Drake’s OVO brand. 21 Savage didn’t hold back, quoting Drake’s line from ‘Push Ups’ and telling Metro to ‘make some drums.’ Whether or not these playful exchanges will impact future collaborations remains to be seen, but it certainly adds a layer of intrigue to the situation.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, the possibility of Savage Mode III has fans buzzing with excitement. Whether the ongoing Metro-Drake feud will affect the project is still up in the air, but one thing is clear: If Metro and 21 Savage do reunite, it’s bound to be another hit.
