The tragedy struck on New Year’s Eve, when a rented pickup truck driven by Shamsud-Din Jabbar plowed into revelers. Jabbar, who was killed by police on the scene, was a former U.S. Army veteran with ISIS ties.
Jabbar’s recordings, found on SoundCloud, revealed his disdain for music and Western culture. “Rapping can lure people into things that God has made forbidden to us,” he claimed, illustrating his extremist views.
