Lil Skies found himself in hot water recently after an alleged hit-and-run incident in Pennsylvania on May 20.
According to the Chambersburg Police Department, the 25-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kimetrius Foose, was involved in a car accident and then sped away without exchanging information with the other party. Following this, he was arrested and later released from Franklin County Jail. However, the conditions of his bail and the current status of his case are still unclear.
Lil Skies, a SoundCloud sensation who gained fame in 2017, has not yet made any public comments about the incident. Known for his stance against drugs, particularly lean and Xanax, Skies once told French outlet Rap Fire Officiel, ‘I’m not against people that do that shit, [but] to me, it’s just not a way of life. I don’t want to ever rely on something [like that]. I’m scared, I’m not going to sit here and act like I want to do drugs. I know I’ma have a bad trip so that’s why I won’t do it.’
He also mentioned, ‘I’m the type of person — my mind is too strong, I think too hard. I’m not going to put myself in that situation where I can get fucked up. But I’ve seen drugs really badly fuck up my friends, got some of my friends locked up for life. It’s not for me.’
Earlier this year, Skies performed a virtual concert in celebration of 4/20. However, his latest mixtape, ‘Out Ur Body Music,’ did not make a significant impact on the Billboard charts. His most successful project remains his 2019 debut album ‘Shelby,’ which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA. The album featured collaborations with Gucci Mane, Gunna, and fellow SoundCloud rapper Landon Cube.
As the legal proceedings unfold, fans are left waiting for more updates on Lil Skies’ situation while he remains silent on the matter.
