At a Grammy Museum event, Killer Mike hailed Doechii as rap’s current leader.

On December 18, during a special event at the Grammy Museum, the spotlight was on Doechii, a rising star whose album ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’ has earned a nomination for Best Rap Album at the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards.

As the audience listened intently, Killer Mike commended Doechii, highlighting her artistry. ‘You truly are an artist,” he remarked. ‘You’re not just aspiring to be — you’ve always embodied it. The album cover alone is a testament to your impact from the South.’

Killer Mike continued his praise, emphasizing, ‘You are the tip of the spear among artists from Florida now. I believe you are the leader in rap right now.’

Killer Mike, having clinched a Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2024, isn’t just a casual fan. His endorsement adds weight to Doechii’s ascendancy in the music world.

Adding to her list of accomplishments, Doechii is nominated for Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance for her track “Nissan Altima,” and Best Remixed Recording for a Kaytranada remix of her song alongside JT, “Alter Ego.”

Reflecting on her Grammy nominations, Doechii shared with HipHopDX’s Jeremy Hecht that the experience felt both incredible and familiar. ‘I’m having déjà vu — it feels like I’ve been here before,’ she stated. ‘I feel like I’ve received this before. So, I feel aligned.’

Doechii’s achievements reflect early support from none other than Kendrick Lamar, who in October praised her as the ‘hardest’ rapper in a rare social media post, calling her out as ‘the hardest out.’

In response to Kendrick’s praise, Doechii expressed her gratitude on Instagram, acknowledging him as ‘the greatest.’ She added, ‘Getting your flowers while you can still smell them >>>.’

Doechii’s rapid rise in the rap scene, backed by both Killer Mike and Kendrick Lamar, marks her as a formidable force in the genre, worthy of attention and acclaim.
