Kendrick Lamar and his pgLang company have a special event lined up for Los Angeles this Juneteenth. Announced through Kendrick’s Instagram Story, the event, named ‘The Pop Out,’ promises appearances from Kendrick’s “friends.”
Set to take place at the Forum in Inglewood, pre-sale tickets will be available for CashApp cardholders starting Thursday, June 6, with general sales opening the following day. Kendrick and pgLang have had a partnership with CashApp since 2022, collaborating on various campaigns.
On the music front, it appears Kendrick is deep into the creation of a new album. Terrace Martin, a well-known Los Angeles producer, has been stirring excitement about this project. During an Instagram Live session earlier this week, Martin shared his enthusiasm for Kendrick’s upcoming album and its potential impact on the West Coast rap scene.
In response to a fan comment about the West Coast reclaiming its status as the Hip Hop Mecca, Martin said, “We always been the Mecca, bro. We take a little break sometimes. We gotta take breaks to let the other people have a little bit. We back, though.”
Martin didn’t stop there. He also hyped upcoming projects from YG, Roddy Ricch, and West Coast legend Mustard. “Aye, let me tell y’all the records I’m excited for. I’m excited for YG’s album, I’m excited for Mustard’s album. I’m excited for a lot of people, but there’s two albums I’m going crazy, I can’t wait ’til they drop,” he shared. “Roddy Ricch album and whenever Kendrick drops his album, I’m excited for those two. Those two Compton artists is like, I’m excited. So much shit bubbling, you know?”
With Kendrick Lamar’s ‘The Pop Out’ event and the buzz around his upcoming album, this June is shaping up to be a thrilling month for hip-hop fans, especially those on the West Coast.
