Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss track aimed at Drake made a surprise appearance during the United States basketball team’s recent victory over Canada in an exhibition game.
On July 10, the U.S. basketball team faced off against Canada at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, clinching an 85–72 victory. As both teams decompressed after the game, the fierce lyrics of Lamar’s track blared from the speakers.
While it remains unclear if this was a deliberate jab at Drake, who happens to be Canadian, the coincidence didn’t go unnoticed.
Earlier in the week, Drake faced another sports-related taunt from the Argentinian soccer team. After their Copa America semifinal win over Canada, they trolled him by posting, “Not like us, not with us,” on social media along with a celebratory image tagged with the same phrase.
As if Drake’s week couldn’t get worse, he had bet $300,000 on Canada to win that match. His Instagram post confidently mentioned Messi, saying, “This could get Messi [Canada flag emoji].” To his dismay, Canada lost, further tarnishing his already unlucky sports betting record.
Adding to the chaos, media personality Akademiks hinted at new music from Drake. He tweeted, “All u n-ggas who been acting like Drake finished… bookmark this tweet for 6 months from now.” He later doubled down, assuring fans that Drake’s new music would be worth the wait.
While Team USA celebrated their victory to the tune of Kendrick Lamar’s biting diss track, Drake faced a challenging week filled with sports losses and social media jabs. Fans eagerly await his next move, both on the charts and in the sports arena.
