Joe Budden hasn’t listened to Eminem’s latest album, and he’s got some reasons why. Here’s what he had to say:

Joe Budden has explained why he is hesitant to listen to Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). Speaking on his podcast, Budden revealed he hasn’t given the project a spin yet, even though it’s currently topping the Billboard 200 chart.

Budden reflected on his history with Eminem’s music, sharing that in his younger years, he couldn’t imagine not rushing to hear an Eminem project. However, this time around, he didn’t feel the same urgency. “Maybe my life is litter than you guys’ is,” he quipped.

He added that his reluctance had nothing to do with Eminem or his music. “I don’t care about none of the Slim Shady shit,” Budden stated, referencing Eminem’s often provocative and controversial lyrics. “I don’t care about Jennifer Aniston or whoever he’s dissing.”

Budden shared a personal connection with Eminem’s past work, crediting Slim Shady for helping him through tough times and dealing with depression. “For me, Slim Shady helped me to live and stay alive,” he said.

Despite their complicated history—which includes Budden criticizing Eminem’s 2017 album Revival and Eminem firing back in a diss track—the two seem to be on better terms lately. Budden even supported Eminem in a recent beef with Benzino.

Budden may eventually listen to Eminem’s new album, but for now, he’s content with his current perspective.
