Ice Spice’s manager has jumped into the fray with ex-friend Cleotrapa, addressing the recent beef that erupted on tour.
The drama began on Monday, August 2, when Cleotrapa claimed that Ice Spice had mistreated her during their Y2K! Tour on a five-part TikTok series. She alleged that Ice’s security neglected her and left her to carry her own bags. She was also denied amenities that Ice received.
Ice Spice’s manager, James Rosemond, Jr., took to X to share his side of the story. He pinned the issue on Cleotrapa and her team, asserting that they didn’t manage expectations properly. ‘This is what happens when an artist’s team doesn’t manage their expectations,’ he explained. He added that Cleotrapa and her crew should have been better prepared.
According to Rosemond, the opportunity to be on tour is significant. However, he noted openers don’t get the same perks as headliners. ‘The entitlement and ego are crazy,’ he remarked, emphasizing that Cleotrapa needed to know how to leverage the opportunity.
Rosemond didn’t stop there. He also mentioned how he’d handle such a situation. He stressed the importance of management and advanced planning to avoid hiccups. ‘I’m not allowing my client to go out on the road without me advancing it,’ he stated.
After the TikTok drama went viral, Rosemond connected with Cleotrapa’s manager, who admitted fault. ‘The artist’s manager said he blames himself because he pushed his client to stay,’ Rosemond revealed. He also noted that the lack of financial backing for Cleotrapa was a significant issue.
Rosemond expressed frustration over social media’s role in the conflict. He lamented that issues are often blown out of proportion online. ‘We live in a TikTok/social media economy where people know how to go viral for clout,’ he said. He also suggested that Cleotrapa needed therapy.
Cleotrapa also took to social media to voice her grievances. She claimed that after confronting Ice about her luggage, she was further isolated. From being denied access to Ice’s dressing room to having to change in a bathroom, she described her treatment as ‘torture.’
She also accused the tour production team of excluding her from the budget, even refusing to pay for a chicken salad. Cleotrapa speculated that she was only invited on tour to help clean up Ice’s image after a falling out with another friend, Baby Storme.
Following the online uproar, Ice Spice addressed the situation on X Spaces. She stated, ‘Crashing out is sad, you guys.’ She suggested that the fallout was due to unmet expectations and highlighted a pattern she’s noticed. ‘I genuinely was trying to help her,’ she added, frustrated that her good intentions were misinterpreted.
Ice also mentioned that they had fun experiences together that Cleotrapa omitted. She regretted trying to do a good deed by inviting Cleotrapa on tour, saying, ‘But that’s what the fuck I get for trying to be a good person.’
All in all, it’s a tangled web of accusations and defenses, with both sides sharing their own perspectives. Only time will tell if this is resolved offline or continues to play out in the public eye.
