Ice Cube isn’t shy when it comes to speaking his mind, and his recent appearance on Patrick Bet-David’s PBD Podcast was no different. The N.W.A co-founder suggests that the sexual assault allegations against Diddy are part of a larger conspiracy to bring down the Bad Boy boss.
Ice Cube kicked things off by painting a wild picture of the Hip Hop scene: ‘How could you be surprised with anything that happens in Hip Hop? Hip Hop is the Wild West, so you are going to have the good, you’re going to have the bad, you’re going to have the ugly.’ He went on to question the legitimacy of the accusations, saying, ‘I believe he’s being targeted. I believe somebody has the power to pull the trigger to make this stuff just domino effect happen.’
However, Cube seemed to backtrack a bit, admitting, ‘I don’t know enough to even be able to be specific on any of this stuff. It’s just all speculation.’ He added, ‘I just know he was cool up until a point and then this stuff started happening. So I believe somebody, like I said, said, “Yo, he’s our new guy. We on to this year,” or whatever.’
Despite his strong opinions, Ice Cube admitted that he had not attended any of Diddy’s parties and had lost contact with him around 1994. Yet, he did acknowledge working with Diddy’s producers on his 2000 album, War & Peace Vol. 2: The Peace Disc, calling the experience ‘cool.’
Meanwhile, Diddy himself has reportedly hinted at a similar conspiracy theory. An unnamed source told the New York Post that Diddy believes the release of CCTV footage showing him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie was part of an agenda against him. The source said, ‘He’s incensed, especially about the video. He insists it doesn’t tell the full story about what happened. Not that he’s excusing it, but he says that it’s a selected video.’
Adding fuel to the fire, the source mentioned that Diddy’s main concern was the raids on his homes by Homeland Security agents in March, related to a federal investigation into sex trafficking accusations. The 54-year-old music mogul has denied any wrongdoing and has yet to be criminally charged.
Whether there’s any truth to the conspiracy theories or not, one thing is clear: The drama surrounding Diddy isn’t going away anytime soon. As for Ice Cube, his speculative comments have added yet another layer to an already complicated situation.
