Gunna’s former attorney, Steve Sadow, is standing firm against rumors labeling the rapper a “snitch.” According to Sadow, who knows every detail of Gunna’s RICO trial, these claims are completely unfounded.
Sadow represented Gunna during the notorious YSL RICO trial. Gunna was released nearly two years before fellow rapper Young Thug after accepting an Alford plea deal. Despite no evidence of cooperation, many fans and media outlets continue to label Gunna as a “rat.”
This controversy has not only caught public attention but has also seemingly affected Gunna’s relationship with Young Thug. In a recent Instagram story, Young Thug shared a snippet that appeared to target Gunna, rapping about not associating with “rats.”
Responding to these narratives, Sadow took to social media to set the record straight. “I was Gunna’s attorney but I am NOT speaking on his behalf. This long post is solely to set out the truth,” Sadow stated emphatically on his X page.
Sadow clarified that Gunna did not cooperate or provide information that could harm Young Thug’s case. He detailed that Gunna spent eight months in jail and was released in December 2022, receiving a five-year suspended sentence without any probation or travel restrictions.
Highlighting Gunna’s post-release achievements, Sadow noted that Gunna has performed globally and achieved significant international fame. In contrast, Young Thug, who had a longer jail stint, faced stricter conditions post-trial.
While Gunna did not testify at Young Thug’s trial, and was not named as a witness, the controversy has continued. Sadow expressed his frustration at the ongoing criticism towards Gunna, stating firmly, “THOSE THAT HAVE AND CONTINUE TO BAD MOUTH GUNNA, GET OVER IT. NUFF’ SAID.”
Despite Young Thug receiving special permission from a judge to work with Gunna upon his release, it seems like their relationship may still be strained. In a deleted post on social media, Young Thug distanced himself from Gunna, fueling further speculation about tension between the two.
Gunna has repeatedly emphasized that his focus with YSL was purely entertainment and that he has not contributed to any legal proceedings. Yet, misunderstandings and rumors persist, impacting his public image.
Steve Sadow’s defense of Gunna underscores the challenges artists face with public perception and legal battles. Despite ongoing rumors, Gunna remains focused on his music career, while Sadow continues to push back against the misconceptions.
