Gunna did not betray Young Thug in the ongoing YSL RICO case, according to YSL co-founder Mondo.
In a detailed Instagram Story, Mondo (real name Fremondo Crenshaw) retracted previous statements that Gunna had snitched on Thug to secure a plea deal and his release from jail.
Mondo admitted, ‘I’m man enough to say I should’ve never spoken about the Gunna situation because technically he didn’t rat. He just kinda folded under pressure.’ He expressed that Gunna should have stayed loyal until the end, noting that Gunna wasn’t around from the beginning.
He continued, claiming that someone else had actually snitched on Young Thug. ‘So he wasn’t going to do no real time regardless. I feel bad cause now a n-gga who literally is a real live rat running around the city getting glorified,’ he said, adding that he was both ‘mad & hurt’ seeing his brother go through this. Mondo emphasized, ‘I’m not afraid to say when I was wrong & saying Gunna is a rat was dead ass wrong.’
Despite the controversies, Mondo praised Gunna for remaining loyal to YSL, highlighting Gunna’s last two albums, ‘A Gift & A Curse’ and ‘One of Wun,’ released through the label.
Ever since Gunna accepted a plea deal in December 2022, he has faced ongoing snitching accusations. Gunna has consistently denied these claims. ‘While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,’ Gunna stated following his release from jail.
Others in Thug’s inner circle have also defended Gunna, including Young Thug’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr., who said, ‘I love Gunna. Let me try to help the attorney clarify that a little simpler. Gunna hasn’t done anything whatsoever that can hurt us on this case. Period.’
Overall, Mondo’s retraction and the continued support from Thug’s circle highlight the complex dynamics in the YSL RICO case. Gunna remains steadfast in his stance, maintaining his loyalty to YSL and denying any snitching allegations.
