Gunna’s night at the BET Awards took a surprising turn when a stranger approached him on the red carpet, accusing him of being a ‘rat’.
While Gunna, accompanied by two female staff members, was standing on the red carpet, a man filmed himself walking up to the rapper. He boldly confronted Gunna about the accusations tied to the ongoing YSL RICO case, where it’s alleged that Gunna snitched on Young Thug. The stranger said, “Gunna Wunna, man. You can’t be in the city doing all that ratting shit. You rat ass n-gga.”
One of Gunna’s female associates stepped in to address the man, while Gunna himself chose to remain silent, merely staring at the stranger. The unsettling moment was captured on video and later uploaded by a user named K Rich. Interestingly, K Rich had previously gained attention for a playful exchange with JAY-Z about the “dinner with JAY-Z or $500K?” debate.
This isn’t the first time Gunna has faced public accusations of snitching since taking a plea deal in the YSL RICO case, where Young Thug is still on trial. Back in December, Lil Baby, once a close friend and collaborator, took a shot at Gunna during a concert. As their hit “Drip Too Hard” began playing, Baby told the crowd, “Fuck the rats, turn this shit off.”
Additionally, there have been other instances where Gunna was heckled with similar taunts. On one occasion, his bodyguard had to step in when someone called the rapper a snitch in a shopping mall. Despite these accusations, Gunna has consistently denied any wrongdoing. In a statement after his release from jail, he clarified, “While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”
More recently, Gunna reaffirmed his stance in a track titled “Prada Dem,” where he raps, “I set the trend, I’m a trendsetter/ I’m not a rat, still gettin’ cheddar.”
Gunna’s presence at the BET Awards might have been meant for celebration, but it quickly turned into another confrontation over persistent allegations. However, he continues to stand firm against the claims, making his position clear in both his statements and his music.
