Gucci Mane is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Enchanting, once a shining star under his 1017 Records label. News of her tragic passing was confirmed by her family.
The Shade Room reported that Enchanting’s death was attributed to a “reported overdose.” Details emerged on Tuesday, June 11, from her sister, who shared that Enchanting was initially in the intensive care unit before her passing was later confirmed.
Enchanting joined Gucci Mane’s label in 2020, and her last major release was a deluxe version of her 2022 album ‘No Luv,’ titled ‘Love Scarred/No Luv (Deluxe),’ which came out in February 2023. Despite some ups and downs, Enchanting was part of the 1017 family until early 2024.
Taking to Instagram upon hearing the news, Gucci Mane expressed his sorrow: ‘So sad to have to say R.I.P to such a great young lady; a true star we gone all miss you Chant @luvenchanting.’
However, Gucci Mane faced some backlash in the comments of his post. Critics pointed fingers at him, citing the troubling fates of several other 1017 signees. His wife, Keyshia Ka’Oir, came to his defense, stating, ‘Leave my husband alone! He signs these artists to help them & give them a better life! I wish it wasn’t like this! Chant we love you baby girl! RIH.’
Indeed, numerous 1017 artists have faced legal troubles over the years, including Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, Hoodrich Paolo Juan, and Mac Critter. Gucci himself has a history of running into legal issues, which he addressed on his wife’s podcast, ‘All Things Keyshia Ka’Oir,’ last month. When asked about the frequent incarcerations of his artists, he said, ‘Well, you know, I was one of those type of artists always going back and forth to jail, and I try to help those artists I see a lot of myself in.’ Gucci continued, ‘They come from the trenches, they come from poverty, so I wanna help. I feel I can relate to them and what they got going on.’
Enchanting’s passing is a somber moment for the hip-hop community, especially for those closely associated with 1017 Records. Her talent and spirit will be sorely missed.
