G Herbo is not holding back against a law firm he hired that is now suing him for six figures.
Herbo has voiced his frustration over the claims and payments made to the firm, which he has labeled as ‘greedy.’
Earlier this week, news broke out that the Chicago rapper, known for his influence in drill music, is being sued by a law firm that he hired for his 2020 wire fraud case.
The law firm alleges that Herbo did not pay the fees agreed upon, two weeks before his sentencing in the case.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, G Herbo decided to tackle the issue head-on in a video.
‘Instead of writing a long statement, I figured I’d talk about it on video. I wish I didn’t have to address this publicly,’ he began.
He expressed his frustration, saying he paid the law firm over a million dollars, yet they are demanding more payments.
According to documents, Prince Lobel Tye law firm is suing G Herbo for breach of contract and unjust enrichment.
‘Mr. Wright hasn’t paid and owes $237,582.67 for legal services, including $26,542.85 in interest,’ the suit states.
The last payment made by Herbo was on December 29, 2023, and the law firm is seeking further interest for the unpaid months.
Herbo pled guilty in his 2020 wire fraud case but avoided prison time largely due to mitigation efforts by his legal team.
He highlighted that his community work played a significant role in his sentencing outcome, which allowed him to remain free.
The rapper was sentenced to three years of probation on January 11, 2023, rather than a harsher prison sentence.
Herbo made it clear that his community service was not court-ordered but done out of the goodness of his heart.
He emphasized that his actions were genuine, focusing on who he is as a person rather than a legal obligation.
‘I went into the courtroom, pleading guilty, and was able to walk free based on my character,’ Herbo stated.
In addition to probation, Herbo was ordered to pay substantial financial penalties involving restitution and forfeiture totaling $279,936.
This amount includes a fine of $5,500, reflecting the severity of his involvement in the fraud case.
Concluding his Instagram video, Herbo expressed relief at remaining with his family and discussed the importance of addressing the matter openly.
‘I just want to clear the air and let people know the truth about these legal issues,’ Herbo concluded.
G Herbo has made his stance clear against the claims from the law firm, emphasizing the payments already made.
As this legal battle unfolds, the rapper continues to defend his name and the integrity of his actions.
