Flavor Flav created a custom clock chain for gymnast Jordan Chiles amidst an Olympic medal controversy. Initially finishing fifth in the floor exercise at the 2024 Olympic Games, Jordan’s score was adjusted to bronze after her coach’s appeal, which revealed a missed skill.
However, the Romanian Olympic Committee disputed the timing of this appeal, claiming it exceeded the one-minute time limit by four seconds. The Court of Arbitration for Sport agreed, resulting in Chiles returning her bronze medal to Romania’s Ana Barbosu.
On August 11, USA Gymnastics presented video evidence showing that Team USA’s coach Cécile Landi appealed 13 seconds before the deadline. Despite this, Cas dismissed the appeal, citing their rules against reconsideration, even with new evidence.
Flavor Flav took to X to show his support for Chiles. He promised her a bronze clock necklace, stating, ‘Ayyy YOOOO @ChilesJordan … imma make you a BRONZE CLOCK NECKLACE,,, and that’s something NO ONE else has,!!!’
True to his word, Flavor Flav shared a photo of the new chain the next day, reiterating his support for Team USA in their ongoing struggle.
Jordan’s sister, Gina Chiles, acknowledged the gesture, thanking Flavor Flav and mentioning that Jordan wasn’t on social media at the time.
In another instance of goodwill, Flavor Flav also helped Olympic discus thrower Veronica Fraley with her rent just before her competition, highlighting his ongoing support for athletes in need.
Flavor Flav continues to show his unwavering support for athletes through his unique and heartfelt gestures.
