Fat Joe and Remy Ma are back at it! This iconic duo has just released their new single, ‘Outta Control,’ as a teaser for Joe’s upcoming album set to drop next month.

On Friday, July 12, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and the production duo Cool & Dre dropped ‘Outta Control.’ The catchy summer anthem borrows the hook from DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince’s classic ‘Summertime’ and features Joe skillfully weaving in a section of Juelz Santana’s ‘Dipset (Santana’s Town),’ creating a nostalgic yet fresh vibe.

Joe’s lyrics hit hard with lines like, “Got a dope connection, and a coke connection/ We expose and press/ You have no protection,” using similar phrasing to Juelz’s discussion of his “whole selection” on the original track. Remy Ma, never one to hold back, starts her verse by addressing the 2007 incident that led to her spending eight years in prison. Remy’s raw honesty is apparent when she raps, “They say I shot my friend over a band — and?/ Imagine what I do to a bitch that I can’t stand.” These bold lyrics have stirred some controversy online.

Joe has been teasing his upcoming album, set for release in August. When a TMZ reporter caught up with him in Los Angeles, Joe confidently declared, “Breaking news: Fat Joe be dropping a[n] album in August, too, so put me in that list of pioneers and legends and icons.” With his last album released in 2021 and a statement the following year that he wasn’t planning new material anytime soon, fans are excited about what’s to come.

Besides his music, Joe has been making waves politically. He and E-40 showed their support for President Joe Biden’s campaign in North Carolina, performing at a rally right after Biden debated Donald Trump. An official from Biden’s team praised the rappers, calling them ‘legends of the music industry’ who use their influence to highlight the importance of the election.

Earlier this year, Joe also engaged in discussions about the legal consequences of marijuana possession. In March, he moderated a closed-door meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris, Kentucky governor Andy Beshear, and individuals pardoned for past weed-related convictions. Joe’s involvement in these critical discussions showcases his commitment to social issues beyond music.

With ‘Outta Control,’ Fat Joe and Remy Ma are making waves both in music and beyond. Fans are eagerly anticipating Joe’s upcoming album, while his political engagements highlight his broader influence. This summer track is only the beginning of what promises to be an exciting year for Joe.
