EST Gee cannot seem to escape personal tragedy. His artist, EST Lu Mike, was fatally shot in Louisville, Kentucky, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to reports, police responded to gunfire on Baxter Avenue at 1:45 a.m., finding Lu Mike dead at the scene. Another man was also shot and died later at the hospital.
A third individual was hospitalized but is expected to survive. As of now, no suspects have been identified in what appears to be a senseless act of violence.
Adding to the complex situation, Lu Mike had recently previewed a new track on Instagram, featuring lyrics that seemingly taunted an unnamed rival. “Everytime these n-ggas slip then we gon’ do ’em dirty,” he rapped.
This tragedy comes just two weeks after the murder of EST Gee’s manager, EST Beach, who was also killed in Louisville. Beach was shot multiple times and found dead in his car after a homecoming concert.
Police arrived at the scene on July 21 to find Beach dead. No suspects have been named, and it’s unclear if he was the intended target.
Beach’s death had already created ripples of concern through the community, especially given the high-profile nature of the Summer Jam event where performances from popular artists were featured.
Previously, EST Gee’s former manager Eric Mosley was arrested by the FBI on drug trafficking charges, shedding light on the troubles surrounding the artist and his crew.
Now, with the death of both his manager and artist, the hip-hop community is left to mourn and question the ongoing wave of violence.
The relentless string of tragedies has left EST Gee and his community reeling.
