Eminem has just dropped bombshell news for his fans. The iconic rapper announced a deluxe edition of ‘The Death Of Slim Shady,’ teaming up with legendary producer The Alchemist for a cinematic trailer shared on Instagram.
In the gripping trailer, Eminem strolls through a convenience store with The Alchemist behind the counter. After slicing open a milk carton and spilling it, Em gets a fierce reaction from Al, who yells at him to “get the fuck out of here!” Before the scene ends, the camera zooms in on a missing persons ad featuring Slim Shady.
Eminem’s caption read: “MISSING: SLIM SHADY!! Have you seen him?” He then revealed that ‘The Death Of Slim Shady: Expanded Mourner’s Edition’ will drop this Friday, September 13.
While The Alchemist doesn’t appear on the original album, his cameo might hint at new production work on the expanded edition. Fans will have to wait and see.
In other Eminem news, the rapper is set to kick off the MTV Video Music Awards this week, marking his first time doing so in nearly 15 years. Slim Shady will open the VMAs on Wednesday, September 11, at the UBS arena just outside of New York City.
Back in 2010, Eminem opened the VMAs with Rihanna, and he’s graced the show several times since: in 2012 with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, and again with Snoop in 2022.
This year, Eminem has bagged eight VMA nominations, six of which are for his hit single ‘Houdini.’ This song, released in June, soared to number two on the Hot 100 and marks his highest charting single since his 2013 collab with Rihanna, ‘The Monster.’
‘Houdini’ racked up nearly 50 million streams in its first week and received four million radio impressions, showcasing its widespread appeal. The music video, directed by Rich Lee, features stars like Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Royce Da 5’9″, The Alchemist, and more.
Whether it’s through a cinematic trailer or dominating the VMAs, Eminem continues to keep fans on their toes. With an expanded edition of ‘The Death Of Slim Shady’ and a slew of VMA nominations, Slim Shady proves he’s far from missing.
