Eminem and Big Sean are set to light up Detroit with a special concert celebrating the reopening of Michigan Central Station, an iconic landmark that’s been closed for more than 30 years.
This epic event, titled Live from Detroit, will take place on Thursday, June 6. Eminem, along with his manager Paul Rosenberg, is executive producing the event, ensuring it’s packed with star power. Some big names set to perform include Common, Slum Village, Diana Ross, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Theo Parrish, The Clark Sisters, and The Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
And it’s not just about the music. The night will see appearances from notable figures like Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jared Goff, Judge Greg Mathis, Loni Love, Sam Richardson, Taylor Lautner, Mike Epps, and Sophia Bush.
The 90-minute outdoor concert aims to ignite the spirit of Detroit, featuring a blend of musical performances, short films, and appearances by local luminaries. It’s a celebration of innovation and culture from across the city and the region.
For those who can’t be there in person, NBC will livestream the event on Peacock and their YouTube channel at 8:30 p.m. EST. Plus, there’s a one-hour special airing on NBC on June 9 at 7 p.m.
Michigan Central Station, which Ford acquired in 2018, is the centerpiece of a renovation project aimed at reviving the area. Bill Ford, executive chair of Ford, highlighted the building’s historical significance, calling it ‘our Ellis Island — a place where dreamers in search of new jobs and new opportunities first set foot in Detroit.’
Bill Ford added that the renovation involved more than 3,000 skilled tradespeople and a host of designers, community leaders, and forward thinkers to bring this landmark back to life.
This concert also comes hot on the heels of Eminem’s latest single, ‘Houdini,’ which has already racked up over 23 million Spotify streams and will be featured on his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).
The reopening of Michigan Central Station isn’t just a concert; it’s a much-anticipated celebration of Detroit’s vibrant culture and history. With an A-list lineup and a historic backdrop, Live from Detroit promises to be an unforgettable night.
