Drake is no stranger to stirring the pot with Kendrick Lamar, and this time he took it to the realm of Twitch.
While tuning into LosPollosTV’s livestream, the Toronto rapper decided to troll his well-known rival, Kendrick Lamar. During a moment when LosPollosTV lamented the prevalence of Kendrick’s track “Squabble Up” following Drake’s own release, Drake chimed in with a cheeky comment.
He humorously suggested, “we need a donut emoji in the chat,” before taking a playful jab at Kendrick’s popular “Mustaaard!” lyric from the song “TV Off” by writing “CUSTAAAARRRRRD.”
Despite his efforts to inject some humor, Drake found himself the subject of mockery on social media. Critics were quick to call out his antics, labeling them as ‘corny’ and akin to a ‘manchild’ behavior, with many wondering why he wasn’t taking this battle to the studio instead.
One observer noted, Drake, once known for calling out ‘twitter fingers,’ was now engaging in online banter rather than focusing on producing a record, raising eyebrows with another puzzling move.
This online trolling is a continuation of the feud that has been brewing between the two artists. Last month, during an appearance on xQc’s Kick channel, Drake sent a defiant message, claiming his mind and soul were ‘fully intact’ despite Kendrick’s diss tracks.
Drake’s competitive spirit carried over into the legal realm, where he filed pre-action petitions against Universal Music Group (UMG). He accuses UMG of artificially inflating the success of Kendrick’s song “Not Like Us” using streaming bots, claiming that this tactic had economically harmed him.
Further complicating matters, Drake alleged that UMG released a song that defamed him with false accusations, intensifying the already heated rivalry. UMG, however, refutes these accusations and maintains no wrongdoing, while Kendrick Lamar, not directly named in the legal filings, has not publicly responded.
The situation remains tense, with the potential for further legal action, as Drake weighs his options in his ongoing battle against UMG.
It seems Drake’s rivalry with Kendrick Lamar continues to evolve both in the digital and legal worlds.
