Drake finds himself on the receiving end of some playful retaliation after comments he made about DeMar DeRozan.

Drake, known for his courtside antics, recently threw some shade at DeRozan during a game. The Canadian rapper joked that if a banner were to be raised for DeRozan, he’d personally take it down. This remark came as DeRozan made his first appearance in Canada in a while.

The Sacramento Kings’ owner, Vivek Ranadivé, didn’t let this slide. At the Kings’ home game against the Toronto Raptors, Ranadivé was seen wearing a shirt featuring lyrics aimed at Drake. The shirt referenced a popular Kendrick Lamar diss track targeting the rapper, adding fuel to their competitive fire.

As the game progressed, the Kings triumphed over Drake’s hometown team, securing a 122-107 victory. This wasn’t the only response DeRozan had for Drake’s jest. He mentioned in a post-game interview that if Drake wanted to take down a banner in his honor, he’d have quite the climb.

DeRozan also took to Instagram, sharing a humorous clip from the movie ‘Friday’ featuring Chris Tucker. The clip implied that DeRozan believed Drake’s tough demeanor was more for show and not genuine.

In previous interviews, DeRozan has spoken about his loyalty to Kendrick Lamar. Despite his appreciation for both Kendrick and Drake, he emphasized his roots in Compton, reflecting on where he came from and how it shapes his identity.

Interestingly, DeRozan’s connection to Kendrick was also highlighted in a chart-topping diss track by Lamar. The track celebrated DeRozan’s return to his roots after leaving the Raptors in 2018.

This light-hearted exchange between Drake, DeRozan, and Ranadivé showcases the playful drama that often accompanies celebrities in sports and music.
