Doechii has shared her desire to collaborate with Kendrick Lamar while admitting she’s not quite prepared for it just yet.

In a recent chat with Joe Budden on his podcast, Doechii was asked if she expected a verse from Kendrick Lamar on her new album, ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal.’ She candidly replied, ‘I don’t assume anything, and I also don’t feel entitled to a Kendrick feature, but I would absolutely love that. That’s the goal.’

Despite the excitement, she acknowledged, ‘I’m gonna ask Top if he could ask Kendrick, or ask Kendrick myself and see what comes from that. But I’ma be real. I don’t think I have the record right now for that opportunity. I think I would have to come a certain way, and I don’t think I’m ready for that.’ This honesty impressed Budden, who expressed his admiration by saying, ‘I love that from you.’

While Doechii may not feel ready for a Kendrick collab, she’s already set to work with another big name. This week, it was confirmed that she’ll feature on Katy Perry’s new single ‘I’m His, He’s Mine.’ Katy announced this news with a glamorous photo of the two on Instagram, revealing that the song and its video would be available on September 13.

Doechii’s year has been exceptional. She recently released her mixtape ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal,’ earning substantial praise. Anthony ‘Top Dawg’ Tiffith, her TDE boss, compared it to Kendrick Lamar’s early work, stating on Instagram, ‘The project makes me feel the same way I felt when KDOT dropped Section 80. She’s 1 of those ones 4sho!!!!’

Similarly, ScHoolboy Q has been hooked on the new mixtape, sharing on social media, ‘Just Here to say DOEcHii… dats all I care about at da moment.’ It’s clear that Doechii’s talent is turning heads within her label and beyond.

While Doechii may not feel ready for a Kendrick Lamar collaboration, her career trajectory and upcoming projects indicate she’s on a promising path. Fans can undoubtedly look forward to more exciting developments from this rising star.
