- She expressed gratitude and love for the LGBTQIA+ community through personal messages and interviews.
Doechii chose her 26th birthday to drop some exciting news. On August 15, the Florida-born rapper took to Instagram to announce her upcoming mixtape ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal,’ set for release on August 30.
In her Instagram post, she not only shared the mixtape’s cover art but also wrote, ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal 8/30 Pre-save the mixtape, link in bio. Happy Birthday to me,’ with a heart emoji.
Doechii has always been a strong ally for the LGBTQIA+ community, being queer herself. She recently talked about feeling more understood in this community compared to the Hip Hop world.
During Pride Month in June, Doechii shared with Rolling Stone, ‘No community has uplifted me and made me feel as safe as the gay community, and ballroom culture, of course, is a part of that community.’
Earlier this year, both Doechii and her ‘Alter Ego’ collaborator JT showed their love for the LGBTQIA+ community by writing heartfelt ‘love letters’ on social media as part of a Pride Month initiative.
In her letter to Billboard, Doechii wrote, ‘I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to the LGBTQ+ community for embracing me so tightly and pushing not only my music, but also championing my personal growth.’
Doechii has said her creative work is heavily influenced by both her Florida roots and the vibrant LGBTQIA+ community, dedicating her music to all those who encouraged her to strive for excellence.
JT also shared a powerful message, encouraging people to find safe spaces and supportive communities, and to never give up, despite any lack of support from family, friends, or lawmakers.
Doechii’s new mixtape and her heartfelt messages make it clear she’s devoted to both her music and her community.
