DMX’s family has firmly denied Irv Gotti’s claims about working on a biopic of the legendary rapper.

Tashera Simmons, DMX’s former wife, quickly shut down any speculation. She made it clear on Instagram that they are not collaborating with Gotti on any project related to DMX, also known as Earl Simmons.

“In light of recent speculation, we want to clarify that we are not currently working with Irv Gotti, nor have we agreed to partner with him on any content related to Earl Simmons, including a biopic,” read the statement.

The family emphasized that DMX is an iconic figure in the music industry, and they are committed to handling any project related to his legacy with respect and integrity. They promised to make any official announcements through their channels.

Meanwhile, Gotti, recovering from a stroke, had told The Shade Room he was working on several projects, including the DMX biopic. His representative shared that Gotti, who has battled diabetes, is recovering well after a minor stroke.

Fans were relieved to hear that Gotti is not in a rehab facility and is enjoying life at home with family. The misunderstanding about the biopic seems to have caused some tension between Gotti and DMX’s family.

To clear the air, Gotti issued an apology on Instagram after his previous comments about DMX’s drug overdose caused a stir. “Now Everything I said. Had already been reported in the media […] for that I am truly sorry,” he wrote.

Gotti emphasized his close bond with DMX, saying he put his career on the line for the rapper. He also mentioned apologizing privately to DMX’s ex-wife Tashera for speaking out of turn.

DMX passed away in April 2021 at the age of 50 due to a cocaine-induced heart attack. Since then, his family has been protective of his legacy, ensuring his story is told with dignity.

The back-and-forth between Irv Gotti and DMX’s family highlights the tensions that can arise in preserving a legend’s legacy. Fans will have to stay tuned for official updates from DMX’s family regarding future projects.
