Diddy is in hot water, facing legal trouble and working on himself. Here’s what’s happening:
- He’s receiving ‘treatment and therapy’ amid his indictment.
- His lawyer admits to past mistakes, including drug use and toxic relationships.
- Despite efforts to avoid jail, the judge wasn’t convinced.
- Diddy has turned himself in and is now in a Brooklyn detention center.
Diddy, the music mogul, is currently receiving ‘treatment and therapy,’ according to his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo. This news comes as federal prosecutors published a 14-page indictment against him on Tuesday.
Agnifilo didn’t specify what Diddy’s treatment involves but admitted his client isn’t perfect. ‘There’s been drug use, there’s been toxic relationships – which I think were mutual in their toxicity as these things often are,’ Agnifilo said at the arraignment.
Agnifilo argued that Diddy, in an effort to avoid jail, is working on bettering himself and is willing to pay $50 million for bail. He even suggested house arrest in Miami with constant surveillance as an alternative.
Despite these efforts, Judge Robyn Tarnofsky denied the bail request, stating, ‘This is a crime that happens behind closed doors, even when pretrial services is monitoring,’ according to CNN.
Diddy turned himself in and is now behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Agnifilo plans to appeal the decision, stating, ‘He’s going to clear his name and we’re going to stand by his side as he does. We believe in him wholeheartedly.’
Agnifilo also criticized the jail’s conditions, calling them ‘horrific,’ and cited several suicides that have occurred there in recent years.
