Seeing the footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie was a shocking experience for a lot of people, but for Dame Dash, it struck an especially deep chord.
Earlier this month, security footage from 2016 showing Diddy assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie at a hotel surfaced online. The footage shows the founder of Bad Boy Records pulling Cassie to the ground, kicking her, and attempting to drag her back to his room. This video appears to back up the allegations Cassie made against Diddy in her now-settled lawsuit.
The footage triggered a wave of reactions from social media users and industry peers alike, most condemning Diddy for his behavior. Unfortunately, according to the L.A. D.A.’s Office, it’s ‘beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.’ Despite this, many feel that Diddy still deserves serious consequences for his actions, including Dame Dash.
On a recent episode of ‘Choppin It Up’ on America Nu Network, the Roc-A-Fella co-founder shared his thoughts on the upsetting footage. Dame Dash said his first thought was about his daughters, implying that Diddy is fortunate it wasn’t one of them instead of Cassie. ‘You know, you can’t unsee that,’ Dash began. ‘It’s really a shame.’ He went on to say, ‘If that were something I see happened to my daughters, Puff… he’s dead. I’d go do the time or I’d try to figure out how not to have to go do the time.’ He emphasized, ‘I don’t think I could handle watching any man touching or doing any kind of violence to my daughters.’
The footage of Diddy’s assault on Cassie has not only reignited conversations about his past actions but also highlighted the intense emotions and protective instincts of people like Dame Dash. While the legal timeline may prevent prosecution, the court of public opinion continues to weigh in heavily.
