After a decade-long hiatus, The Roots’ much-anticipated album is gaining momentum, all thanks to Common and Pete Rock.

Questlove revealed on his podcast that ‘The Auditorium Vol. 1’ ignited a creative spark in the legendary band. ‘This album will spark a renaissance,’ he shared, noting its impact on him and Black Thought.

The Roots had been watching from the sidelines, but Questlove said their creative engines are now revving full throttle. Black Thought even wrote seven new songs in a single day, something he hadn’t done since their second album.

It all started when Questlove hyped up Common and Pete Rock’s album to Black Thought. ‘Yo, dawg. You ain’t gonna believe this, but Rash and Pete made the perfect summit meeting record,’ Questlove told him, lighting a fire under his bandmate.

A recent Hollywood Bowl performance further fueled Black Thought’s creativity. Questlove noted, ‘In the last two weeks, he’s knocked off at least eighty percent of the work.’

Questlove gave fans an update on the long-awaited album, teasing a key date in 2025, possibly tied to the 30th anniversary of ‘Do You Want More?!!!??!’.

Their new album, tentatively titled ‘End Game,’ has been in the works for some time, with a first glimpse dropped on Hot 97 in 2022. The track ‘Misunderstood’ features Erykah Badu and Tierra Whack.

Black Thought confirmed the album’s progress, saying, ‘We’re a lot closer to a new Roots album. Many songs are recorded, and a couple are already mixed.’

While fans are eagerly waiting, Black Thought hinted we might see his solo projects before the album drops.

The Roots’ new album is set to make waves, with a little help from their friends, Common and Pete Rock.
