The performance was a visual treat, with Common, Bilal, and Posdnuos lounging on sofas amidst a set designed to look like a vintage basement, complete with art deco elements matching the album cover.
Adding to the vibe, Pete Rock held down the decks while The Roots played their instruments seamlessly, enhancing the old-school feel of the song.
The much-anticipated album, ‘The Auditorium Vol. 1,’ is set for release on July 12 and has already teased fans with tracks like ‘Wise Up,’ ‘Dreamin’,’ and ‘All Kinds of Ideas,’ the last of which features a cameo by Black Thought.
Sharing his excitement on Instagram, Common revealed, ‘For me, this all started with A Dream… a dream to be a part of Hip Hop… It’s been a dream of mine to work with the LEGENDARY @realpeterock.’
He also expressed gratitude for the support and hopes that the album’s music will resonate deeply with listeners, stating, ‘We pray and hope that this music will move your spirit and be with you for the rest of your life.’
Common further emphasized the album’s significance during a MusiCares panel, candidly sharing, ‘This new Pete Rock joint… It’s in my top [three]. I’ve had a couple people coming in saying, ‘Yo, this is one of your best albums.’ So I’m excited about it.’
