Charlamagne Tha God has hinted at when he might step away from ‘The Breakfast Club’.
Charlamagne Tha God, a co-host of the popular New York City morning show on Power 105.1 since 2010, has indicated he may soon leave ‘The Breakfast Club’. Originally joined by DJ Envy and Angela Yee, and now co-hosting with DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious, Charlamagne revealed his plans during a recent chat on the Flagrant podcast.
When asked about his departure, Charlamagne said, ‘I personally have a number. Not even Breakfast Club, but just being a talent period. Not a financial number.’ He made it clear that while he might step away from the spotlight, he won’t be completely out of the industry. ‘I like being behind the scenes a lot more nowadays. Empowering other people, watching people get their shit off, watching other people become these great entities that people love and fuck with,’ he added.
During his appearance, Charlamagne didn’t hold back on his opinions about Kanye West. He criticized West for trying to get involved in the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud and called him musically irrelevant. ‘Nobody cares about Kanye rapping,’ said Charlamagne. ‘If Kanye had done this 10 years ago, it’s like, “Ooh shit, Kanye inserted himself in the beef!” Nobody gives a fuck about Kanye rapping in 2024. Especially when the guys that are rapping are the rappers you actually want to hear from.’
Contrary to Charlamagne’s remarks, Kanye recently achieved his first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 in over a decade with ‘Carnival,’ a joint album with Ty Dolla $ign. This was his first chart-topper as a lead artist since ‘Stronger’ in 2007, which has now achieved diamond certification.
Charlamagne Tha God’s future plans suggest a shift from being a front-facing personality to working behind the scenes, focusing on empowering others. His candid comments on Kanye West and the evolving music industry reflect his unfiltered perspective.
