Let’s get straight to it: Charlamagne Tha God has weighed in again with his sharp opinions, this time targeting Kanye West. According to Charlamagne, Kanye’s rapping just doesn’t matter to fans anymore.
Kanye West being controversial is nothing new. Since 2022, he’s made numerous public statements that were widely condemned as antisemitic, costing him several business partnerships. Even before that, his endorsement of Donald Trump and the MAGA movement already had him in hot water with many in the rap community and among fans.
But Charlamagne thinks the backlash has now reached a point where people don’t even care about Kanye’s music. He brought this up while discussing West’s attempts to insert himself into the year’s biggest rap beef involving Kendrick Lamar and Drake. This conflict also saw contributions from heavyweights like J. Cole, Rick Ross, Metro Boomin, Future, and The Weeknd.
Kanye tried to jump into the mix, taking to Instagram and Twitter to claim he outdid both Kendrick and Drake in past encounters. He also zeroed in on attacking J. Cole. However, according to Charlamagne, none of it really mattered to fans.
Charlamagne didn’t hold back, saying, “If Kanye would’ve done this 10 years ago, it’s like OH SH*T…. nobody gives a f*ck about Kanye rapping in 2024.”
Charlamagne has been vocal about the Kendrick and Drake beef all year. He’s even speculated on how Drake could still come out on top.
Charlamagne Tha God is convinced that Kanye West’s recent controversies have overshadowed his music to the point where public interest in his rapping has dwindled. Do you agree?
