Cash Cobain is setting the hip-hop scene on fire with his latest Instagram teasers. The New York rapper sampled André 3000’s flute album, ‘I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album but This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time,’ adding skittering percussion, thumping bass, and his rapid-fire flows.
Not stopping there, Cobain also took on Drake’s 2013 classic ‘Started From the Bottom.’ He remixed the song with his ‘Slizzy’ style and opened his verse with a nod to the track’s title: ‘Started from the bottom/ Chow told me to get ’em, I got ’em.’ Chow Lee, another Big Apple rapper, also featured on the song.
Cash isn’t alone in remixing André 3000’s flute beats. Lupe Fiasco previously rapped over a track from the same album, offering a lyrical gift to his fans. In his version, Lupe effortlessly spit lines like, ‘I prefer Kintsugi pottery over pristine, perfectly-weaved sophistry.’
Music producer Dem Jointz also gave the album a hip-hop twist. He added heavy funk-infused percussion to one track and boom bap drums to another, showing just how versatile André 3000’s flute music can be.
Cash Cobain’s new remixes are a fresh take on classic hits, keeping fans eagerly waiting for more.
