Cam’ron just shocked fans by rejecting a major New York City honor. Here’s the scoop:

  • Offered the ceremonial key to NYC by Mayor Eric Adams’ office.
  • Turned it down due to legal issues involving Adams and Diddy.
  • Questioned the value and integrity of the honor.
  • Other celebrities, like Fat Joe, happily accepted the key.

Cam’ron recently revealed on his sports talk show that he turned down New York City’s ceremonial key. Mayor Eric Adams’ office reached out to him last month, but he wasn’t interested.

He explained to co-host Ma$e, ‘Last month, they called me to see if I wanted the key to the city. I said, ‘I don’t want to be involved with nothing.’’

His refusal is tied to the legal troubles facing Mayor Adams, who is accused of accepting over $10 million in illegal campaign contributions. Adams remains in office despite ongoing calls for his resignation.

Cam’ron also mentioned Diddy’s controversies. Diddy, who received the key last year but had it rescinded due to multiple sexual assault lawsuits, makes history as the first to have the key taken back.

‘Where does that get you?’ Cam’ron questioned, referring to the value of the honor and its troubled recipients. ‘I don’t want nothing to do with the keys to the city and the n-ggas giving ’em out.’

Meanwhile, other celebrities like Fat Joe have accepted the key to NYC. Fat Joe received it in his Bronx hometown, but even he noted the controversy attached to the honor.

‘I get the key to the city [on] the 20th and, boy, was that a hard one. Hip Hop got a black eye,’ Fat Joe shared on Instagram Live.

Despite Cam’ron’s stance, numerous personalities continue to embrace the honor, each handling the associated drama in their own way.
