Missouri’s controversial execution of Marcellus Williams has shaken many, including famous voices like Busta Rhymes, Meek Mill, and Questlove.

On Tuesday, September 24, Marcellus Williams was executed after the Supreme Court declined to intervene. Convicted of a 1998 murder, Williams consistently claimed innocence. Despite both the prosecutor and the victim’s family supporting an agreement to spare his life, the Missouri Supreme Court overruled it.

There was no DNA evidence linking Williams to the crime scene. The DNA found on the murder weapon was described as ‘spoiled.’ Additionally, allegations of bias in jury selection have surfaced. According to the Associated Press, the prosecutor admitted to removing a Black potential juror because he ‘looked too much’ like Williams.

Busta Rhymes took to Instagram with a photo of Williams and his last statement: ‘All Praise Be To Allah In Every Situation!!!’ Busta expressed his sorrow, writing, ‘An Unfathomable Travesty has transpired today with the Death of an Innocent Man. You didn’t get your Justice here so make sure you serve your Justice from where you are Almighty.’

Meek Mill responded by quoting his 2015 track ‘Ambitionz’: ‘Holding, never folding, we was on the top tier/ Shackled to our ankles it was like a nightmare.’

Questlove highlighted a past decision by Missouri’s governor, Mike Parson, who had pardoned a couple that pointed guns at protestors in 2021, yet refused to do the same for Williams. ‘I wrote like 11 drafts & …….,’ Quest captioned.

Meanwhile, Meek has been active on social media for other reasons recently. He offered $100,000 to any detective who could prove he was uninvolved with Diddy’s alleged ‘freak off’ parties, stemming from accusations in producer Lil Rod’s lawsuit against Diddy. Meek tweeted, ‘I wanna hire an investigative team 100k cash to find out every specific detail involving meek mill name to ‘Diddy’ Case….’

Meek added, ‘The streets know wassup with me that’s not the case. We talking about business side, somebody powering these bad campaigns with ‘meeek mill’ again I got 100k for a thorough investigation of who’s powering and how exactly my name connect to this….’

The execution of Marcellus Williams has left a heavy mark on many, shedding light on issues within the judicial system. As Busta Rhymes, Meek Mill, and Questlove use their platforms to voice their concerns, the broader question of justice and fairness remains.
