- Big Sean’s new track ‘Yes’ has caused quite a buzz, with some fans claiming he copied Baby Keem’s style.
- The internet exploded with tweets claiming Big Sean ripped off Baby Keem’s flow.
- Big Sean’s supporters argue he’s been using this flow long before Baby Keem came on the scene.
- Big Sean himself weighed in on the matter, dismissing the claims with a confident tweet.
Detroit native Big Sean dropped a new single ‘Yes’ last month, which has sparked debates among listeners. After the music video release, fans accused him of copying Baby Keem’s flow and cadence.
Social media was ablaze, with both rappers becoming trending topics. Comments like ‘We really live in a world where baby keem has 40-year-old sons’ pointed fingers at Sean.
However, Big Sean’s loyal fans jumped to his defense, pointing out that he’d been using this style long before Baby Keem entered the scene. One user wrote, ‘N-ggas saying Baby Keem when Big Sean dropped Paradise years before Keem touched the scene.’
On August 21, Sean seemingly addressed the controversy himself, tweeting, ‘Must not be familiar wit my game.’ This tweet mirrored his fans’ sentiments and dismissed the accusations.
Adding fuel to the fire, speculation arose that Sean’s sensitivity to the claim might relate to his past with Keem’s cousin, Kendrick Lamar. The infamous 2013 ‘Control’ verse from Kendrick had previously stirred tensions between the two.
Last year, a leaked early version of Kendrick’s 2018 track ‘Pandemic’ included direct disses at Big Sean, rekindling old flames. However, Sean shared in a recent interview that Kendrick had apologized for the diss.
Sean clarified his stance, emphasizing that he isn’t chasing clout or backing down from confrontations. ‘I’m not a clout chasing-ass n-gga, bro,’ he firmly stated. ‘If it was real smoke, if it was really something, I would be there front and center for it.’
Interestingly, Sean revealed he had a diss track aimed at Kendrick ready to go before they settled their differences.
Big Sean’s confident dismissal and the support from his fans suggest this debate is far from over.
